Duluth Superior Camera Club
April Meeting Minutes 2008
Ladona Tournabene opened the meeting for us before Brian arrived. There were no new members, but the club sang happy birthday to Don Larson. Last month’s minutes and the treasury report were approved as well.
-Once again, if you are interested in being on the Event Committee to help plant the banquet, outings, summer photo shoots, etc. let Lisa or Brian know.
-If you would like to nominate anyone for next year’s officers, nominations are allowed at any time.
-The details for this year’s spring banquet will be announced at the May meeting.
-A sheet was sent around to write down any ideas for local competition topics for next year. They will be chosen by the May meeting so we can know before summer.
-Brian passed around a copy of the rules for a photo competition by Nature’s Best Photography. If you did not get to see it, or want more info go to www.naturesbestphotography.com . We are allowed to enter 20 images for the entire club, and no person can have more than 3 entries. -Kathy Maki spoke about another photo contest through the National Wildlife magazine. It is for professional and amateur photographers. There is a youth division as well as a $5,000 grand prize. Visit www.nwf.org/photozone.-Brian purchased an 8ft pull down screen for himself, but kindly offered to bring it to use at meetings.
-Thanks to Jane and Germane for the snacks during break!
-Jane Heinecke presented her Walt’s Grab Bag photos since she was absent from last month’s meeting.
-Ryan Tischer gave the presentation. He is from Carlton and has been doing photography for 5 years. He used film for less than 1 year, then he switched to digital. He uses a Nikon d80 and an 18-70mm & a 75-300mm lens. He uses a lot of motion and creativity in his photos, but likes to keep things simple and not be tied down with too much equipment.
